Tamil Nadu seeks aid package for Cauvery delta farmers hit by heavy rains

Edappadi Palaniswami, former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader, has called on the Tamil Nadu government to announce a comprehensive compensation package for farmers in the Cauvery delta region who have suffered losses due to recent heavy rainfall.

The monsoon deluge has damaged standing crops and irrigation infrastructure across the agriculturally significant delta belt, which supplies a substantial portion of the state's rice production. Palaniswami's appeal comes as farmers face mounting economic hardship from the weather-related devastation.

The former CM urged the state administration to assess the extent of crop losses and provide direct monetary relief to affected farming families. He emphasized that swift government intervention is essential to prevent further distress among rural communities already grappling with volatile market conditions and resource constraints.

The Cauvery delta, spanning multiple districts in Tamil Nadu, remains crucial to the state's agricultural economy.
