Tamil Nadu seeks public help identifying ancient Agamic temples across state

The HR&CE Department has launched a public campaign requesting citizens to help identify Agamic temples scattered across Tamil Nadu, recognising that many such ancient structures remain undocumented or inadequately recorded in official registers.

Agamic temples, which follow the ancient Agama scriptures in their rituals and architectural traditions, represent an important part of Tamil Nadu's religious and cultural heritage. The department's outreach effort seeks to bridge gaps in existing records and ensure these temples receive appropriate recognition and support.

Members of the public, particularly those from temple communities and local areas, are being urged to provide information about Agamic temples in their regions, including details about their location, historical significance, and current status. This data collection exercise will help the department maintain an accurate inventory of religious institutions across the state.
