The HR&CE Department has rolled out mobile phone deposit facilities at the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai and Sri Lakshminarasimhar Temple as part of efforts to enforce stricter regulations on electronic device usage within temple premises. The initiative aims to maintain the sanctity of worship spaces while providing a secure storage option for devotees during their visits. Temple authorities have clarified that devotees discovered carrying mobile phones into restricted inner sanctum areas will face consequences, including device confiscation and monetary fines. The deposit centres offer an alternative for worshippers to safely leave their phones before entering the main temple halls. Officials believe the measure will enhance the spiritual atmosphere within the temples and reduce disturbances caused by electronic devices during prayers and rituals.
