Tamil Nadu to launch five Model Registration Hubs in initial rollout
The Tamil Nadu government will establish five Model Registration Hubs to streamline property and marriage document registration across the state. Citizens will be able to register documents at any hub regardless of their sub-registrar office jurisdiction.

The Tamil Nadu government has announced plans to set up five Model Registration Hubs as part of its first phase of implementation to modernise the state's registration system. The initiative aims to enhance citizen convenience by allowing residents to register property documents and marriage certificates at any hub of their choice, eliminating geographical constraints imposed by traditional sub-registrar office boundaries.
The hubs will function as centralised registration points, enabling residents to complete documentation requirements without being restricted to their local sub-registrar office. This decentralised approach is expected to reduce processing times and improve accessibility across Tamil Nadu, particularly benefiting citizens in areas with limited registration infrastructure.
Government officials indicated that the five initial hubs represent the first phase of a broader expansion strategy. Depending on the success and operational efficiency of these centres, the state plans to establish additional hubs across other regions to ensure statewide coverage and accessibility.
The Model Registration Hubs are designed to incorporate digital systems and streamlined procedures to expedite document processing. Officials stated that the move aligns with the government's broader digitisation agenda and reflects efforts to modernise administrative services in the state.
