The Tamil Nadu government has decided to withdraw a Government Order that had promoted the Registrar of Dr. Ambedkar Law University to serve as temporary Director of Legal Studies, according to submissions recorded by the Madras High Court.
Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan acknowledged the government's commitment to revoke the order during proceedings in the matter. The court noted that the vacant position of Director of Legal Studies would now be filled through the standard recruitment and selection process.
The High Court's intervention marked a significant development in the administration of the university. The bench recorded the government's undertaking as part of its order, directing that all future appointments to the position adhere to established procedures rather than relying on temporary arrangements or transfers from existing roles.
This decision ensures that the recruitment for the Director of Legal Studies position will follow transparent and regulated processes, providing equal opportunity to eligible candidates from across the region. The withdrawal of the promotional order aligns with judicial oversight of administrative decisions at state-funded educational institutions.
