Tamilnad Mercantile Bank reported a record net profit of ₹451.14 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, marking a 42 per cent year-on-year increase. The Chennai-based lender's performance underscores growing momentum in its core lending and deposit businesses amid a supportive economic environment.
The quarter's results were underpinned by higher interest income as the bank expanded its advances portfolio. Deposits also registered strong growth, reflecting improved customer confidence and increased market share gains. The expansion in both lending and liabilities provided a sturdy foundation for profitability.
Asset quality metrics showed marked improvement during the quarter, with the bank maintaining better control over non-performing assets. The combination of higher revenues and improved credit quality contributed to the bottom-line expansion. Operating efficiency metrics also remained in focus as the bank looked to sustain profitability gains.
The results position Tamilnad Mercantile Bank among well-performing smaller private sector lenders in the current financial year. Analysts attribute the bank's performance to its focused regional presence and relationship-driven lending model.
