Tampines residents overwhelmingly back original paint scheme for HDB blocks
Residents of eight Housing and Development Board blocks in Tampines Street 45 have voted to retain the original colour scheme for their brick-faced buildings. The decision came after more than three-quarters of residents supported maintaining the existing paint in a recent poll.

In a decisive show of preference, 76.02 per cent of residents at the 497 blocks along Tampines Street 45 voted to preserve the original paint scheme during a recent community consultation exercise. The ballot reflects strong sentiment among residents to maintain the distinctive aesthetic of their brick-faced apartment complex rather than adopt an alternative colour option.
The poll represents a significant endorsement of the status quo, with the substantial majority favouring continuity in the buildings' external appearance. Housing board residents have increasingly been given greater say in matters affecting their living environment, with such consultations becoming more common across Singapore's public housing estates.
The outcome of the Tampines Street 45 vote aligns with broader efforts by HDB to engage residents in maintenance and upgrading decisions.
