Taniksha bows to world champion Song in Asian Games fencing

The 22-year-old fencer from India fought valiantly in the pre-quarterfinals but fell short against the higher-ranked opponent, losing 9-15. Khatri had demonstrated her prowess earlier in the competition, dispatching Thailand's Natpapat Sangngio 15-10 in the round of 32 to advance further.

Khatri's performances at the Asian Games come on the back of a stellar campaign earlier this year when she claimed the gold medal in the senior women's epee event at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Nigeria, marking a significant achievement for the Indian fencer.

Elsewhere in the fencing competition, fellow Indian Mitva Chaudhari also exited the women's individual epee event following a narrow 14-15 defeat to China's Yang Jingwen in the round of 32. The Indian contingent's fencing challenge continued to face setbacks as Sachin and Hemash Singh Sanasam both bowed out of the men's individual foil event at the same stage.

Hemash Singh Sanasam began his round-of-32 clash against Kazakhstan's Galim Nurumov on a promising note, leading 6-5 after the opening period. However, Nurumov staged a strong comeback to clinch the bout 15-9 and secure progression to the round of 16. Sachin also fell to defeat in his round-of-32 encounter, losing 9-15 to Kazakhstan's Timofey.
