Tata Chemicals secures major US soda ash supply contracts worth $110 million

Tata Chemicals Ltd announced that its wholly-owned US subsidiary, Tata Chemicals North America Inc, has successfully acquired significant soda ash customer contracts and commercial rights from Searles Valley Minerals Inc through a bankruptcy proceeding. The contracts cover supply of more than 500,000 metric tonnes of soda ash from September 2026 through December 2028.

The Delaware-based bankruptcy court approved the transaction, with Tata Chemicals North America emerging as the successful bidder. The acquisition was completed for a cash consideration of USD 21.16 million and is subject to customary closing conditions outlined in the Assignment and Assumption Agreement between the two parties.

The long-term supply contracts are projected to generate cumulative revenues exceeding USD 110 million over the 27-month contract period. The arrangement strengthens Tata Chemicals' position in the North American soda ash market, a key segment for the company's global operations.

Soda ash, a critical raw material used in glass manufacturing, chemicals production, and water treatment applications, remains in steady demand across North America. The acquisition enables Tata Chemicals to expand its customer base and secure reliable revenue streams in a strategically important market.
