Tata Communications, Tata Motors tie up for 5G-enabled Sierra.ev

Tata Communications and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles announced a strategic partnership on Tuesday to equip the Sierra.ev with integrated 5G cellular connectivity. The initiative underscores industry efforts to deploy Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) more rapidly across the Indian market.

Under the collaboration, Tata Communications' MOVE Connected Vehicle Platform will be integrated with the Sierra.ev's SDV platform, N.IO. This integration is designed to deliver seamless connectivity alongside digital-first in-vehicle experiences that leverage the vehicle's connected capabilities.

Vivek Manglik, Executive Vice President of Interaction Fabric at Tata Communications, stated that as vehicles increasingly function as intelligent ecosystems enabling diverse services and applications, robust digital infrastructure becomes essential for fostering innovation. He noted that the partnership reflects a shared vision to develop smarter mobility solutions that enhance user convenience and personalisation while maintaining security standards.

The Sierra.ev's 5G integration is expected to enable various connected features and services, positioning the vehicle as part of India's broader shift toward next-generation automotive technology. The partnership represents a significant step in developing indigenous SDV capabilities within the domestic automotive sector.
