Tata Consumer Products reported net profit and revenue figures that outperformed market expectations in its second-quarter results, demonstrating resilience in a competitive consumer goods landscape. The company's financial performance was underpinned by strong operational momentum and cost management initiatives.
The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 19.7 per cent to Rs 804 crore from Rs 671 crore in the year-ago quarter, significantly exceeding analyst estimates of Rs 769 crore. This robust growth in operating profit reflects the company's ability to drive higher volumes while managing input costs effectively.
Operating margins showed meaningful expansion, widening to 14.2 per cent from 13.5 per cent year-on-year, surpassing consensus forecasts. The margin improvement indicates that revenue growth has outpaced cost inflation, providing the company with greater financial flexibility for investments and shareholder returns.
The second-quarter performance underscores Tata Consumer Products' strategic positioning in key categories and its execution capabilities across its diverse portfolio spanning beverages, foods and other consumer segments. The results come as consumer staple companies navigate variable commodity prices and shifting demand patterns across India's retail landscape.
