Tata Electronics taps Kelington expertise for Gujarat semiconductor venture

Tata Electronics has partnered with Kelington, a prominent Malaysian engineering services provider, to advance its major semiconductor manufacturing facility planned for Gujarat. The collaboration is expected to expedite the development of the US$11 billion project, which represents a significant investment in India's push to build domestic chip production capacity.

Kelington's technical expertise in engineering and project management will support various phases of the facility's development, from design and planning through to implementation. The partnership underscores Tata's strategy to leverage regional specialist knowledge to strengthen its semiconductor ambitions.

The Gujarat facility is central to India's broader initiative to reduce reliance on imported semiconductors and establish itself as a credible chip manufacturing hub in Asia. Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of the sprawling Tata conglomerate, has positioned the project as critical infrastructure for India's technology sector and economic growth.

The involvement of Malaysia-based Kelington reflects the growing cross-border collaboration within Asia's semiconductor industry, as nations increasingly look to share expertise and accelerate infrastructure development across the region.
