Tata Motors clears final regulatory hurdle for Iveco acquisition

Tata Motors has obtained clearance from the European Central Bank, the last regulatory authority required to approve its acquisition of Iveco, the Italian commercial vehicle manufacturer. The ECB's authorization marks the completion of all sector-specific regulatory approvals necessary for Tata Motors' voluntary tender offer to move forward.

The Mumbai-headquartered automotive company announced the acquisition plan to expand its presence in the global commercial vehicles market. Iveco, based in Italy, is a leading manufacturer of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, as well as buses and speciality vehicles, with operations across Europe and beyond.

With all regulatory hurdles now cleared, Tata Motors can proceed with finalizing the acquisition of Iveco. The deal represents a significant strategic move for Tata Motors to strengthen its international footprint and gain access to advanced manufacturing technologies and a broader customer base in Europe and emerging markets.

The acquisition had previously received approvals from other relevant authorities, including competition and antitrust regulators. Tata Motors' acquisition of Iveco underscores the Indian company's ambitions to compete globally in the commercial vehicles segment, complementing its existing portfolio in the passenger and commercial vehicle sectors.
