Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd is consolidating its leadership position in the domestic electric vehicle segment, capitalizing on a sharp uptick in consumer interest and confidence in its EV offerings. According to Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, the company has witnessed a three-fold increase in EV bookings over the last six months while simultaneously expanding its market share against competitors.
"Over the last two to three months, we are gaining market share every month," Srivatsa said, adding that the gap between Tata Motors and the second-ranked EV manufacturer has widened during this period. The company attributes its strong performance to its diverse product portfolio, which addresses multiple customer segments and price points across the electric vehicle spectrum.
However, the company's growth trajectory is being constrained by production capacity limitations. Despite robust demand signals, Tata Motors is unable to fully capitalize on market opportunities due to manufacturing bottlenecks, a common challenge facing several automakers in India's rapidly expanding EV sector. The company has not disclosed specific production expansion plans or timelines to address these constraints.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, operates as the group's dedicated electric vehicle business unit. The company's success in the EV market reflects broader industry trends, with Indian consumers increasingly shifting toward electric mobility solutions amid rising fuel costs and growing environmental awareness.
