Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles aims to capture significantly larger market share through aggressive expansion across multiple product categories and powertrain technologies, according to Managing Director and CEO Shailesh Chandra. The company expects to exceed 15% domestic market share soon while maintaining its target of 20% by the end of FY31.
Since becoming a standalone entity following the October 1 demerger last year, the passenger vehicle business has demonstrated strong momentum, growing nearly 40% over the past twelve months. The division is also making significant strides in electrification, with electric vehicles accounting for more than 25% of total sales as the company exits September.
The growth strategy centres on double-digit expansion while positioning Tata Motors as an industry leader in sustainable and zero-emission powertrain technologies. The company plans to accelerate product interventions and broaden its portfolio across multiple segments to drive volume growth and market penetration.
With India's automotive market increasingly shifting toward electrified vehicles, Tata Motors' emphasis on clean energy powertrains aligns with both regulatory requirements and evolving consumer preferences. The standalone PV division's performance reflects broader industry trends as manufacturers intensify competition in the passenger vehicle segment.
