Tata Power said on Wednesday it is emerging as a preferred partner for India's rapidly expanding data centre ecosystem, with an opportunity pipeline spanning renewable energy, transmission and distribution capabilities. The company is moving beyond traditional power supply to offer an integrated suite of infrastructure solutions tailored to hyperscalers and advanced data centre operators.
The company's data centre opportunity pipeline comprises approximately 430 MW of upcoming load within its distribution network, 1,236 MW of transmission-linked opportunities, and 1,150 MW of green energy capacity under active engagement. Beyond power generation and supply, Tata Power is offering powered land, grid connectivity, energy storage, cooling systems and utility infrastructure to support data centre development.
Accelerating demand from artificial intelligence, cloud platforms and digital services is driving expansion of data centre capacity across India. Tata Power said it is currently engaged with 29 active workstreams spanning 18 leading global and domestic data centre operators, positioning the company to capitalise on the sector's growth trajectory.
The diversified approach reflects a strategic shift among India's utilities to capture higher-margin infrastructure opportunities beyond conventional power generation, as technology companies establish new data centre capacity to serve expanding digital services.
