Tata Power Renewable expands Tamil Nadu solar capacity to boost group operations

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has expanded its renewable energy footprint with the addition of a 100 MW solar facility in Tamil Nadu, marking progress in the group's push toward sustainable power generation. The project, structured as a group captive installation, will supply electricity to three Tata entities: TP Solar, Tata Electronics, and Tata Realty, addressing their internal power requirements.

The Tamil Nadu solar project brings Tata Power Renewable's operational capacity past the 7 GW milestone, reflecting the company's steady scaling of renewable assets. The facility is expected to generate consistent power supplies for the Tata group's manufacturing and real estate operations in the region, supporting their sustainability objectives.

The captive power arrangement aligns with the broader corporate trend in India toward self-sufficiency in renewable energy generation. By securing dedicated solar capacity, the three group entities reduce their dependence on grid-sourced electricity while managing long-term energy costs.
