Tata Power Renewables Commissions 300 MW Solar Project in Karnataka

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has completed commissioning of its 300 MW solar project in Koppal, Karnataka, developed under its wholly-owned unit TP Saurya. The facility has been constructed to supply renewable power to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), strengthening India's renewable energy capacity.

The project is projected to generate 810 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, contributing significantly to the nation's clean energy targets. By offsetting an estimated 103,820 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, the facility represents a meaningful step in India's transition towards sustainable power generation.

Notably, women professionals constitute approximately 40 per cent of the project workforce, with several holding key technical positions including Site Managers and Site Engineers. Their involvement in critical roles—spanning technical execution, engineering oversight and team management—underscores the expanding participation of women in leadership and technical positions across India's renewable energy sector.

The commissioning aligns with growing momentum in India's solar energy infrastructure, as developers ramp up capacity to meet national renewable energy expansion goals and address climate commitments.
