Tay Ninh is pursuing an integrated approach to tourism development that connects its forest ecosystems with historical and cultural sites, positioning green tourism as a catalyst for economic expansion. The strategy reflects a broader regional trend of leveraging natural and heritage assets to drive visitor numbers and revenue growth across South and Southeast Asia.
By 2026, provincial authorities project Tay Ninh will welcome 10 million visitors annually, with international arrivals reaching 200,000. This expansion is expected to generate approximately 8 trillion VND (310.1 million USD) in tourism revenue, according to development plans unveiled by local officials.
The initiative aligns with Vietnam's wider push to elevate tourism as a primary economic engine. Neighboring provinces including Phu Quoc and Quy Nhon have demonstrated tourism's potential to drive substantial economic growth, with Phu Quoc's tourism sector contributing nearly 40 percent to local economic expansion.
Tay Ninh's approach emphasizes sustainability and heritage preservation, combining protected forest areas with cultural landmarks to create attractions that appeal to environmentally conscious travelers. The province aims to establish tourism as a key economic pillar by 2030, drawing on its natural and historical endowments to compete in an increasingly crowded regional tourism market.
