Tchoukball to debut at National School Games from 2027
The dynamic team sport will become the first new addition to Singapore's inter-schools competition in 16 years, while trampoline gymnastics will be phased out from the annual event.

Tchoukball has been selected to join the National School Games (NSG) roster starting from 2027, marking the first sport to be added to the prestigious annual inter-schools competition since fencing was introduced in 2011.
The sport, which combines elements of handball, basketball and badminton, will provide students with an alternative competitive platform. Tchoukball is played between two teams of seven players on a rectangular court, with the objective of throwing a ball against a trampoline-like net to score points.
To accommodate the new addition, trampoline gymnastics will be progressively phased out from the National School Games over the coming years. The decision reflects efforts by the Ministry of Education and Singapore National Olympic Council to keep the competition programme dynamic and aligned with evolving student interests.
The inclusion of tchoukball underscores Singapore's commitment to diversifying sports offerings in schools and promoting inclusive participation across different athletic disciplines. The sport is recognised internationally and has been gaining traction in various educational systems across the region.
