TCS net profit slips 14% to ₹10,720 crore in Q3
India's largest software services exporter reported a significant dip in quarterly earnings despite posting a modest revenue growth of 4.86%, weighed down by labour code compliance costs and legal provisions.

Tata Consultancy Services, the country's leading IT services firm, saw its net profit contract 14 percent to ₹10,720 crore in the third quarter, even as revenue from operations grew to ₹67,087 crore from ₹63,973 crore in the previous quarter.
The decline in profitability, despite the sequential revenue increase, was attributed to two key headwinds. Impact related to new labour code implementations and provisions made for legal matters put pressure on the bottom line, limiting margin expansion despite stronger topline performance.
The 4.86 percent quarter-on-quarter growth in revenue from operations reflected steady business momentum for the Bengaluru-headquartered company, which derives a substantial portion of its revenue from international markets including North America and Europe.
The results underscore the challenges facing India's IT services sector as firms navigate evolving regulatory requirements while managing operating costs in a competitive global market. TCS continues to be a bellwether for the broader technology services industry, which contributes significantly to India's exports and foreign exchange earnings.
