Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has stated it will fully comply with US government directives suspending technology firms from green card sponsorship programmes. The Bangalore-based IT services giant's assurance comes as Washington tightens immigration policies affecting foreign workers in the tech sector.
TCS has underscored its substantial presence in the United States, where it operates across 31 offices and delivery centres. The company has built a considerable local workforce through its existing operations, reducing its reliance on visa-dependent employment models.
Despite the regulatory headwinds, TCS has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its American operations. The firm plans to recruit an additional 15,000 workers across the US over the next five years, signalling its confidence in the market and its strategy to rely more heavily on domestic hiring.
The move reflects broader industry challenges as major Indian IT services companies navigate changing immigration landscapes in their largest market. TCS's emphasis on local hiring aligns with broader efforts by Indian tech firms to build sustainable workforces in the US while adapting to evolving policy requirements.
