TDP ramps up Tirupati campaign push with strong mayoral candidate

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has initiated a vigorous election campaign in Tirupati, moving quickly to establish momentum ahead of civic polls in the key Andhra Pradesh city. The party has nominated Manne Srinivasa Prasad, who serves as Assembly constituency convener and is also known as JB Srinivas, as its candidate for the Mayor's post.

The TDP's selection reflects a strategic approach to fielding an experienced party functionary with established grassroots connections in the constituency. Prasad's background as a key party organizer is seen as positioning the TDP to capitalize on local organizational networks during the campaign phase.

The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has meanwhile fielded Vasu Yadav as its mayoral candidate, a relatively lesser-known party cadre compared to the TDP's nominee. Political observers note the contrast in candidate profiles between the two major contenders vying for the municipal leadership position.

Tirupati holds significant political importance in Andhra Pradesh state politics, making the municipal elections a key test of party strength ahead of broader electoral contests. The early campaign mobilization by the TDP underscores the party's determination to reclaim ground in the temple city constituency.
