TDP secures lion's share in Vizianagaram NDA seat-sharing agreement

The Telugu Desam Party has emerged as the dominant partner in the National Democratic Alliance's seat allocation for Vizianagaram district, securing 48 of the 62 assembly divisions available for the upcoming electoral contest. MLA Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi announced the seat-sharing formula on Monday, confirming the party's commanding position within the regional NDA coalition. The allocation reflects the TDP's significant organizational presence and electoral strength in the district.

Under the arrangement, the Jana Sena Party has been allocated 10 divisions, positioning it as the second-largest participant in the NDA alliance for the region. The Bharatiya Janata Party rounds out the coalition with four divisions. The seat-sharing deal represents a strategic consolidation of anti-incumbency forces ahead of the electoral contest in the state.

The agreement underscores the TDP's central role in shaping the NDA's electoral strategy in Andhra Pradesh. The party has maintained its traditional stronghold in several parts of the state, with Vizianagaram representing a significant battleground. The Jana Sena Party, led by actor Pawan Kalyan, has established itself as an important political player capable of influencing electoral outcomes in the region, while the BJP's smaller allocation reflects its relatively nascent organizational network in southern Andhra Pradesh.
