LUCENA CITY — Two people were fatally shot during a spider-hunting outing in this city on Monday night, police said. The victims, identified as a 15-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man, were among six friends who had ventured to Purok Jasmine in Barangay Domoit to scavenge for spiders when the incident occurred.

According to a spot report from the Lucena City Police Office, the group came under fire while searching for the arachnids in the residential area. The two victims sustained fatal gunshot wounds, while details about the other members of the hunting party and their condition remain unclear.

Investigators are still determining the circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of the assailant or assailants responsible for the shooting. Police said the case is being treated as a criminal matter and that follow-up operations are underway. No arrests have been made as of reporting time.
