Teen innovator develops gamified therapy app inspired by brother's recovery

Siddharth Vikram, a class VIII student, has developed ReHappy, an application that transforms the often tedious process of physiotherapy into interactive gaming challenges. The innovation emerged from observing his brother's recovery following a car accident, where Vikram identified the monotony of traditional rehabilitation exercises as a barrier to consistent patient engagement.

The app converts standard physical therapy routines into game-based scenarios that maintain clinical efficacy while increasing motivation for younger patients. This gamification approach addresses a significant challenge in pediatric rehabilitation, where maintaining patient compliance with prescribed exercises can prove difficult.

Vikram's initiative recently earned recognition at a national competition, securing a prize of $25,000. The funding has provided momentum for advancing the project, though the young developer acknowledges the need for additional technical expertise to strengthen the app's clinical validation and expand its therapeutic features.

As he continues refining ReHappy, Vikram is actively seeking collaboration with healthcare professionals and technical specialists to ensure the application meets clinical standards for rehabilitation while maintaining its appeal to young users. The project demonstrates how personal experience combined with technological innovation can address gaps in healthcare accessibility for India's youth.
