Teen suspect in Tacloban school shooting remains in DSWD custody
A 14-year-old boy identified as one of the suspects in a June shooting incident at a Tacloban high school continues to be held at a Department of Social Welfare and Development rehabilitation facility in Leyte, authorities confirmed.

TACLOBAN CITY – The juvenile suspect linked to the June 22 shooting at San Jose National High School remains under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development at a rehabilitation center located in Tanauan, Leyte, according to a regional official.
The teenager, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, has remained in DSWD custody since the incident at the school. The agency is providing rehabilitation services as the case continues to be processed through the appropriate legal channels.
The shooting incident at SJNHS prompted heightened security measures in educational institutions across Tacloban City and surrounding areas. School authorities and local government officials have implemented additional safety protocols in response to the incident.
The case involving the juvenile suspect is being handled in accordance with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, which provides special protections and rehabilitation programs for minors involved in criminal cases. The DSWD's rehabilitation facility serves as both a custody and intervention center for young individuals in the juvenile justice system.
