Teenager killed, child injured in PLUS highway crash in Perak

A fatal traffic accident on the PLUS North-South Expressway claimed the life of an 18-year-old passenger near Tanjung Malim in Perak on Wednesday. The young woman was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision with a roadside barrier, while a six-year-old girl travelling in the same vehicle sustained injuries.

The incident occurred during daylight hours on one of Malaysia's busiest highway corridors. Authorities were alerted and emergency response teams attended to the scene to provide medical assistance and manage traffic flow in the affected area.

The young girl was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of her injuries. The cause of the accident remained under investigation by the Royal Malaysian Police's highway traffic division as of Wednesday evening.

The incident marks another reminder of road safety concerns on the expressway, which handles high volumes of traffic daily. Police urged drivers to exercise caution and maintain appropriate speeds while travelling on the highway, particularly in areas prone to congestion.
