Telangana allocates ₹1,000 crore for 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu festivities

The Telangana government has earmarked ₹1,000 crore for preparations ahead of the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu, according to an announcement by Deputy Chief Minister. The allocation is intended to ensure adequate infrastructure and facilities for the major religious congregation, which draws millions of devotees from across India and abroad.

Pushkaralu events, held once every 12 years in rotation across four sacred river systems in southern India, are among the largest pilgrimage gatherings in the Hindu calendar. The Godavari Pushkaralu is particularly significant, attracting devotees who believe bathing in the river during the auspicious period brings spiritual merit and redemption.

The financial commitment reflects the state government's anticipation of the scale and scope of the 2027 event. Infrastructure development, crowd management, sanitation facilities, transportation, and security arrangements are expected to form the primary focus of the allocated funds.

The announcement comes as various state authorities begin preliminary planning for the event. The Telangana government has previously hosted similar large-scale religious gatherings and seeks to replicate lessons learned from those experiences to ensure a well-organized Pushkaralu celebration.
