Auto-rickshaw fares in Telangana have increased following a regulatory revision of the state's taxi tariff structure. The new minimum charge for a ride is now ₹30, a substantial hike from previous rates, while each additional kilometre will be charged at ₹14.
The revised fare structure introduces a night-time surcharge to account for the higher operating costs during late-night and early-morning hours. Trips undertaken between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. will incur fares at 1.5 times the standard daytime rate, effectively doubling the per-kilometre charge to ₹21 during these hours.
The fare revision reflects the rising operational expenses for auto drivers, including fuel costs and vehicle maintenance. The increased minimum charge ensures that even short-distance rides provide fair compensation to operators, while the night surcharge acknowledges the additional risks and expenses associated with late-night services.
The new rates are expected to impact daily commuters and app-based auto services across Hyderabad and other cities in the state. Passengers are advised to verify fares with drivers or through taxi aggregator platforms before boarding, as some operators may display updated charges through digital meters or printed fare cards.
