Telangana CM Accuses KCR Family of Looting State Wealth

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy intensified his criticism of the previous administration on Tuesday, claiming that K Chandrashekar Rao and his family had sought to "loot" the considerable wealth inherited from the Nizam era. The comments represent the latest salvo in an ongoing political dispute between Reddy's Congress-led government and KCR's Bharat Rashtra Samithi party.

Reddy's allegations centre on what he characterises as mismanagement and improper handling of the state's historical assets and resources during KCR's tenure as chief minister. The former chief minister, who led the Telangana Rashtra Samithi until renaming it last year, governed the state for nearly a decade before Congress secured power in the December 2023 state elections.

The remarks have sparked significant political tension, with both parties trading accusations over governance and financial management. The Congress-led government has made scrutiny of the previous administration's financial decisions a key plank of its political campaign since assuming office.
