Telangana CM orders probe into KCR's alleged land ownership violations
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed authorities to issue notices to former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members over suspected irregularities in land records. The move follows Reddy's allegation that KCR and his relatives possess land holdings exceeding permissible limits.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the action after constituting a special committee to investigate the land ownership claims against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and his family members. According to Reddy, preliminary findings suggest that KCR's holdings breach the statutory ceiling on land ownership applicable in the state.
The committee has been tasked with examining land records and identifying properties allegedly held by the former Chief Minister and his relatives in violation of regulations. Authorities are expected to serve notices to the accused parties as part of the investigation process, seeking clarification on the acquisition and ownership of the disputed properties.
Reddy's government has signaled a stringent approach toward enforcing land ownership regulations uniformly across the state. The development marks a significant escalation in political tensions between the ruling Congress and the opposition TRS, which governed Telangana for nine years before being voted out in the 2023 state elections.
KCR, who founded and led Telangana since its creation in 2014, has not yet responded to the allegations. The investigation is expected to proceed through established administrative and legal channels, with findings to be made public upon completion.
