Telangana grapples with unusually high rejection rates in SIR process

Telangana's land survey and registration operations have encountered an unusual spike in administrative rejections during the pre-SIR and SIR phases, according to data on the State's Form-6 processing. The rejection rate of approximately 27% of total Form-6 applications processed represents a notable departure from typical processing patterns, prompting scrutiny of the ground survey procedures.

Form-6 applications, which capture details of land ownership and usage during the State Information Record (SIR) update process, are critical to ensuring accurate land records. The high volume of rejections during this phase suggests potential gaps in application submissions or discrepancies in the preliminary survey data that require clarification from property holders.

Parallel concerns have also emerged regarding Form-7 deletions during the same period. Form-7, which documents deletions from existing land records, is typically processed with greater caution due to its implications for property ownership documentation. The concurrent spike in deletions adds another layer of complexity to the SIR implementation.

The elevated rejection and deletion rates may indicate the need for better coordination between field survey teams and applicants, or potential revisions to the pre-submission verification process. Officials are expected to examine whether additional support or clarification mechanisms could reduce the proportion of applications facing administrative hurdles during future SIR phases.
