Telangana Lok Adalat resolves over 1.5 lakh cases, compensates victims

The national Lok Adalat conducted across Telangana has concluded with the settlement of 1,51,000 cases, providing significant relief to citizens seeking speedy dispute resolution. The initiative resulted in the refund of ₹42.29 crore to victims and aggrieved parties, underscoring the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in addressing grievances.

Lok Adalats, or people's courts, are informal judicial bodies designed to facilitate out-of-court settlements in civil, criminal, and consumer disputes. The Telangana drive encompassed cases spanning multiple categories, enabling residents to resolve long-pending matters without prolonged litigation.

The substantial compensation disbursed reflects the nature and scope of cases adjudicated, ranging from contractual disputes to consumer grievances and property-related conflicts. Officials credited the coordinated efforts of judicial officers, mediators, and administrative staff for achieving the settlement targets within the designated timeframe.
