The Telangana Police Department is set to roll out an ambitious health monitoring scheme covering approximately 90,000 personnel across the state. The initiative, branded as 'Fit Cop', aims to systematically track and improve the physical and mental well-being of law enforcement officers through technology-enabled health assessments.
At the core of the programme is a dedicated mobile application designed to evaluate eight critical health parameters for each officer. The app will classify personnel into three distinct risk categories—low, medium, and high—based on their health metrics and lifestyle indicators. This risk stratification will enable targeted interventions and resource allocation within the department.
Following the digital assessment, the programme includes provision for medical screenings and counselling sessions tailored to individual health profiles. Officers identified in the medium and high-risk categories will be prioritised for preventive care, diagnostic evaluations, and specialist consultations as needed. The scheme reflects growing recognition within Indian law enforcement of the importance of officer wellness and fitness standards.
The initiative addresses health challenges commonly associated with the policing profession, including stress-related conditions, cardiovascular issues, and metabolic disorders. By establishing a systematic monitoring framework, Telangana Police aim to enhance the long-term health outcomes and operational efficiency of their workforce while reducing strain on departmental medical resources.
