Telangana Prisons Department denies Owaisi's graft charges against jail chief

The Telangana Prisons Department issued a categorical denial on Tuesday regarding corruption allegations made against the Superintendent of Chanchalguda Central Prison, one of the state's oldest detention facilities. The charges were brought by Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, who had raised concerns about the administration of the prison.

In its formal response, the department asserted that all operations at Chanchalguda jail adhere to established protocols and maintain high standards of conduct. Officials stated that management decisions are made transparently and in accordance with departmental regulations, refuting suggestions of any malfeasance.

Owaisi's allegations have added to ongoing scrutiny of prison administration in Telangana. The Chanchalguda facility, a prominent correctional institution in Hyderabad, has previously been the subject of various administrative reviews and reform initiatives.

The department indicated it remains committed to maintaining accountability and proper governance across all correctional facilities under its purview. Officials emphasized that any legitimate concerns raised through proper channels would be investigated as per departmental procedures.
