Telangana targets 18-month land resurvey completion drive
The Telangana government has launched an ambitious land resurvey programme to map villages previously excluded from official revenue records. A pilot project covering these unmapped settlements is expected to conclude by November.

Telangana is undertaking a comprehensive resurvey of lands across the state with plans to complete the exercise within 18 months, addressing a longstanding gap in property documentation. The initiative aims to include villages and settlements that were not incorporated in existing revenue maps, a significant issue affecting land ownership claims and administrative records across multiple districts.
The state government has initiated a pilot project to test the resurvey methodology on villages currently absent from official revenue surveys. This preliminary phase is scheduled for completion by the end of November, after which the learnings will be applied to the wider resurvey programme spanning the entire state.
The resurvey effort is expected to provide clarity on land boundaries, ownership patterns, and revenue administration across previously unmapped areas. Officials view the initiative as critical for improving land record management and reducing disputes related to property ownership and land-use allocation.
Once the pilot phase concludes, the state administration will scale up operations to cover all identified villages and settlements requiring survey updates. The comprehensive resurvey is anticipated to enhance transparency in land administration and provide affected residents with authentic documentation of their holdings.
