Officials at Telangana Transco have moved to quash rumours of privatisation, asserting that the corporation remains committed to its public mandate. The statement was issued following concerns raised by stakeholders about the long-term viability of state-run electricity transmission companies across India.
The transmission utility, responsible for operating high-voltage power networks across Telangana, plays a critical role in the state's energy infrastructure. Management emphasised that any major structural changes would require government approval and would be subject to extensive stakeholder consultation.
Telangana Transco joins other state transmission corporations in facing operational and financial challenges, including rising costs, infrastructure maintenance demands, and the need for grid modernisation.
