Telangana urged to host Bathukamma celebration for diaspora in Dubai

Advocates for Telugu cultural preservation have petitioned the Telangana government to organize a Bathukamma celebration in Dubai, seeking to foster connections between the state and its expatriate population in the United Arab Emirates.

Bathukamma, a centuries-old floral festival celebrated predominantly by women in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, traditionally marks the onset of autumn. The festival involves creating intricate flower arrangements and singing traditional songs, serving as an important marker of regional identity and cultural heritage.

Proponents of the initiative argue that hosting the festival in Dubai, home to a significant Telugu diaspora community, would provide overseas residents with an opportunity to participate in their ancestral traditions and celebrate their cultural roots.
