Telugu allies mark Modi's quarter-century in public service with lamp-lighting ceremony

Political allies of the National Democratic Alliance in Andhra Pradesh marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's quarter-century in public service on Wednesday with a ceremonial lamp-lighting event in Vijayawada. The 'Ashirwad ka diya' programme, held at Auto Nagar, brought together senior leaders from the Jana Sena Party and the Telugu Desam Party to recognize the occasion.

State Minister Nadendla Manohar attended the event and extended birthday greetings to Modi on behalf of the participating organizations. The ceremony reflected the continuing alliance between the regional parties and the BJP-led central government.

The lamp-lighting tradition has become a common symbolic gesture in India to mark significant occasions and milestones. Modi, who began his political career in Gujarat before rising to national prominence, has served in various capacities over the past 25 years, including as Chief Minister and Prime Minister since 2014.

The event underscores the continued coordination between the central government and its alliance partners in Andhra Pradesh, where the TDP and Jana Sena have emerged as significant political forces. Both parties have maintained alliance ties with the BJP in recent elections and governance structures.
