Telugu literary icon Gurajada's works will inspire generations, says minister

Minister Kondapalli Srinivas led the tribute ceremony at the residence of Gurajada Apparao, the renowned Telugu playwright and novelist, on Thursday. Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju and Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan joined the minister in paying respects to the literary figure whose contributions shaped Telugu literature and theatre.

Kondapalli Srinivas remarked that Gurajada's works would continue to inspire generations to come, underscoring the enduring relevance of the writer's legacy in contemporary times. The 164th birth anniversary celebrations reflected the continued reverence for the author among cultural and political circles in Andhra Pradesh.

Cultural organisations seized the occasion to appeal for development of infrastructure at the site. They called for the establishment of an auditorium adjacent to Gurajada's residence, seeking to transform the location into a fuller cultural and educational hub that could serve as a centre for preserving and promoting Telugu literary heritage.

Gurajada Apparao, who lived from 1860 to 1915, is best remembered for his pioneering role in modern Telugu theatre and his literary contributions that bridged classical and contemporary forms of expression. His works remain significant texts in Telugu language curricula across educational institutions in the region.
