Sembcorp Green Infrastructure Private Limited, the renewable energy arm of Singapore-listed Sembcorp Industries and backed by state investment firm Temasek, has submitted its draft red herring prospectus to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for a proposed initial public offering.
The company is seeking to raise up to Rs 3,750 crore through the fresh equity issuance, according to regulatory filings. The capital raised through the offering is intended primarily to finance expansion of the company's renewable energy generation capacity, strengthen its balance sheet, and support operational growth across its portfolio of wind and solar assets.
Sembcorp Green Infrastructure operates a significant portfolio of renewable energy projects across India, positioning itself as a key player in the country's energy transition goals. The IPO filing comes as India accelerates its renewable energy capacity additions to meet ambitious clean energy targets and attract institutional capital to the sector.
The proposed listing reflects growing investor interest in India's renewable energy space, where companies are capitalizing on supportive government policies, declining technology costs, and rising corporate demand for clean energy. The regulatory process will now proceed through SEBI's review and approval stages before the company can proceed to listing.
Temasek's backing underscores international confidence in India's renewable energy opportunities and the operational capabilities of Sembcorp's domestic platform.
