Tesda chief denies authorizing P5-million allocation for Lacson

MANILA — Tesda Director-General Jose Francisco Benitez categorically denied authorizing a P5-million allocation for Senator Panfilo Lacson, clarifying that no such approval was granted under his tenure leading the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

"As Tesda Secretary, I did not authorize anyone to offer any allocation or one amounting to P5 million to Senator Ping Lacson," Benitez stated, addressing allegations regarding the disputed fund disbursement.

The denial comes amid scrutiny over budget allocations and their distribution within government agencies. Benitez's statement suggests that claims of Tesda funding directed toward the senator's activities or initiatives lack official authorization from the agency's leadership.

The incident highlights ongoing questions about proper budget procedures and oversight within state institutions responsible for technical and vocational training programs across the country.
