Thackeray pushes for MPSC mains delay pending reform recommendations

Aaditya Thackeray has urged the Maharashtra government to defer the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) State Service examination until pending reforms are finalised. In a letter dated September 25, the Shiv Sena leader contended that the mains examination should be postponed if the report from a state-appointed committee remains outstanding.

The reform panel, headed by Additional Chief Secretary V. Radha, is tasked with examining structural and procedural improvements to the civil services recruitment framework. Thackeray argued that administering the examination before these recommendations are reviewed and implemented would undermine the purpose of the reform initiative.

The proposal reflects broader concerns within Maharashtra's political establishment about the efficacy of existing recruitment protocols. Thackeray's intervention suggests efforts to synchronise the examination schedule with anticipated policy changes that could affect candidate eligibility, exam format, or selection criteria.

The Maharashtra government has not yet responded formally to the postponement request. The MPSC has historically faced scrutiny over transparency, candidate diversity, and alignment with evolving administrative requirements. Any deferment would affect thousands of candidates preparing for the competitive examination.
