Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed relevant authorities to proceed with revoking the Thai citizenship of a politician following evidence that the individual used a United States passport multiple times while holding Thai nationality.

According to Anutin's directive, the politician in question utilized a US passport on 16 documented occasions, which constitutes a violation of Thai nationality laws. The use of a foreign passport while maintaining Thai citizenship is subject to legal restrictions in Thailand, with such actions potentially triggering automatic loss of Thai nationality under certain circumstances.

The Deputy PM's order reflects ongoing scrutiny of dual citizenship among Thai political figures and officials in public service. Thai law generally does not recognize dual citizenship, and citizens are required to renounce other nationalities upon acquiring Thai citizenship, or vice versa.

The case underscores Thailand's commitment to enforcing nationality regulations among those in positions of authority. Relevant government agencies are expected to process the citizenship revocation according to established legal procedures. The individual affected has not yet made public comment regarding the order.
