Thai Nguyen is making an ambitious bid to transform tea from a traditional beverage into a cornerstone of the province's culinary identity and tourism strategy. Regional authorities have begun showcasing creative tea-based dishes designed to captivate visitors and distinguish the province in Vietnam's competitive tourism market.

Chefs have developed an array of innovative preparations featuring tea as a primary ingredient, rather than an accompaniment. The culinary creations include tea-roasted veal, tea-wrapped eel, tea-smoked tuna, and shrimp salads incorporating tea leaves. These dishes represent a departure from conventional tea consumption and aim to offer travelers distinctive gastronomic experiences tied to the region's agricultural heritage.

To consolidate its position as a destination for tea-centric tourism, Thai Nguyen has launched the Heritage Train initiative, which combines railway travel with immersion in local culture and green landscapes. The venture capitalizes on the province's reputation as Vietnam's leading tea producer while offering visitors a multi-sensory exploration of both its natural environment and culinary traditions.

Looking ahead, Thai Nguyen International Tea Festival 2026 is shaping up to be a marquee event showcasing the province's ambitions. Officials expect the festival to serve as a platform for major cultural and commercial activities, further cementing tea's expanded role in the local economy and drawing international attention to the region.
