Thai Nguyen targets 12 million visitors by 2030 with eco-tourism push

Thai Nguyen is pursuing an ambitious tourism development strategy centered on sustainable practices and local heritage to become a major economic driver for the northern region. The province has set targets to welcome approximately 12 million visitors—including 1 million from abroad—by 2030, with tourism revenue projected to reach 25 trillion Vietnamese dong and create roughly 10,000 jobs.

The initiative capitalizes on Thai Nguyen's existing strengths, particularly its tea culture and natural attractions. The Thai Nguyen International Tea Festival 2026 is positioned as a flagship event to showcase the province's agricultural heritage and draw global attention to its tourism offerings. The festival represents a centerpiece in broader efforts to establish the region as a premier destination for travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences.

To amplify its marketing reach, Thai Nguyen has secured cooperation agreements with five major media agencies, signaling a coordinated approach to international promotion. These partnerships are designed to enhance the province's visibility among potential visitors in key markets and strengthen its positioning as an emerging tourism hub.

Local officials view tourism development as critical to economic diversification and sustainable growth. By emphasizing eco-friendly practices and community-based tourism models, Thai Nguyen aims to balance visitor growth with environmental protection and cultural preservation, establishing itself as a responsible tourism destination in Southeast Asia.
