The minister's statement comes amid reported incidents involving organized criminal networks that have targeted Chinese visitors in Southeast Asia. Officials emphasized that travelers who follow standard safety protocols and use legitimate tour operators can expect secure travel experiences throughout Thailand.
The distinction between "real" tourists and other visitors appears to reference concerns that some individuals arriving under tourist visas may be involved in illicit activities or become entangled with criminal organizations. Authorities indicated that those engaging in lawful tourism activities have little reason for concern.
The reassurance reflects Thailand's commitment to maintaining its reputation as a safe destination for Chinese travelers, who constitute a significant portion of international visitor arrivals. Tourism officials have implemented additional safety measures at major tourist hubs and coordinated with law enforcement to address any emerging security threats.
The government urged Chinese nationals planning to visit Thailand to obtain travel information from official tourism channels and register with their respective embassies before departure. Authorities also recommended that visitors avoid unauthorized money exchange services and unofficial tour operators that may lack proper licensing.
