Thai separatist group vows to continue armed struggle as peace negotiations falter

Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN), the largest separatist faction operating in Thailand's Muslim-majority southern provinces, has signaled its intention to maintain military operations as diplomatic efforts between the group and the Thai government have stalled.

The announcement underscores deepening frustration within the separatist movement over the pace and substance of negotiations. The BRN, which has waged an insurgency since 2004 primarily in the provinces of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, has repeatedly sought recognition of Malay-Muslim autonomy and self-determination in the region.
