A Thai woman has lodged complaints against her Kanpur-based husband, alleging systematic deception and financial exploitation following their marriage. According to the woman's account, she has spent significant amounts of money on the man since their union, including gifts totaling over 55 lakh rupees.
The woman stated that on his first birthday after their marriage, she spent 21 lakh rupees, while on his second birthday she purchased a luxury sports bike valued at 34 lakh rupees. When she subsequently requested repayment of these funds, the man allegedly severed all contact with her.
Beyond the financial disputes, the woman has also leveled accusations that her husband pressured her to convert her religion following their marriage and that the entire relationship was founded on deception. She claims to have discovered inconsistencies in his representations that came to light only after the wedding ceremony.
The case highlights the challenges that can emerge in cross-border marriages, particularly regarding financial transparency and potential cultural or personal misunderstandings between partners from different countries.
